Upgrade from 7: Update Error Code 80200053, & MediaCreationTool error

I have tried what I believe to be everything at this point. Clearing out the update download folder and retrying the update does not help whatsoever. Forcing the update through a command prompt just gets the download to 100% and then gives me this error. I tried using the Media Creation tool but it just tells me this when I try to run it:

I have found no advice for this error online. There are maybe a total of 3 reports I can find of this error, and no one has given any working answer to anyone with the issue. Please, someone, halp.

If it'.s any consolation - I had that thrice - rebooted each time - now it works fine first time (it takes time to load in the background tho')

I did many more reboots than that with no success. I have written more to my SSD than I would like. Already wrote like 50GB worth of attempts today.

Here is an alternate download site - it has the same ISO's as on MSDN (I have checked their hashes) - they contain both Home and Pro.

Apparently it requires a 16GB flash drive :/

Don't got one bigger than 14GB (well, its a "16GB" stick but really only can use 14.8GB). Doesn't it require you to use the Media Creation Tool (or automatic update) in order to get the upgrade and not have to buy a key?

Don't worry about that - download the iso, it's 3.8GB and fits on a 8GB stick. You can upgrade from any RTM image - no need for Media creation tool or GWX.

Gotcha. It still works the same as the media tool right? As in, you need to do the upgrade installation first and not a clean install?

Also not quite sure how to mount the ISO to a USB as the instructions say. Is it possible with Daemon Tools Lite? Can't find a way to mount it to my USB there, only virtual drives. Thanks.

You could just use Rufus to create a USB stick and run setup from there from within Win7's explorer.

Thanks. A bit confused on part of the instructions though. It wants you to mount the Windows 10 ISO to the USB, which I can do now with Rufus. But then: "Next mount the Upgrade Program Script ISO. This ISO file will need to be mounted and the files extracted to the root of the USB drive" Not sure what file this is and if it is even in the techbench folder.

Also, I could mount the ISO with Daemon Tools and run the Windows 10 setup from there it seems. Would that work or is that a terrible idea?

The scripts are not applicable - I've used this ISO to upgrade a VM.

Daemon tools is OK as well - just thought if you will be doing a clean install later with USB, it will be easier..
