MS Live Mail error

When I start Live Mail A screen flash gives this error ID 0X8DE00005
As soon as I press a key it disappears!

It flashed again when I exit!

How do I fix it!

Your hotmail account has been upgraded to the new sync protocol, three choices, if contacts & calendar function of the account is important then you can add the account to the built in mail app, if these aren't important then you can either download the d.mail update found in Bloodhand's post here: Solved Update for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594) kills WLM - Page 16 - Windows 10 blogthen once installed change the sync server to eas.outlook.com.Or delete the account & recreate it using imap settings:

  • Incoming (IMAP) Server
    • Server address: imap-mail.outlook.com
    • Port: 993
    • Encrypted Connection: SSL (Check server requires secure connection)

  • Outgoing (SMTP) Server
    • Server address: smtp-mail.outlook.com
    • Port: 25 (or 587 if 25 is blocked)
    • Authentication: Yes
    • Encrypted Connection: TLS (Server requires secure connection is UNCHECKED)

  • User name: Your email address
  • Password: Your password

I have not needed that Patch with WLM and IMAP but have found I need to use Port 587 Outgoing to get it to work , but that may depend on where you are and what M$ Server you use....

Just re-reading Doc's post ...I also have to check Use SSL Outgoing (no TLS in WLM) to get it to work...

Since last update Live Mail requires .NET framework (last version I guess) Mine downloaded it automaticaly.

All:

It seems to be a very complicated way to solve a simple problem!

My solution was to use outlook mail! A program that has too many things that I do NOT need!
It is like using a shotgun to kill a mosquito!

I think this is another way for MS to finalise the end of Great Simple Email program!

MS announced that support for Mail will end in Oct.
I will mourn the death of a good friend!
