Folders being made smaller when switching source on amplifier

Any open or minimized applications/folders etc are made smaller and pushed into the top left corner when I switch sources on my amplifier to go from watching the PC to any other source and then back again to the PC.
I've just switched sources now and Chrome, which was maximised is still maximised, but a random open folder which was maximised is now 1/8th of the size of the screen and pushed all the way into the top left corner.
If utorrent is maximised, nothing happens, if it is anything but maximised it gets crushed into the top left corner.
Driving me a bit crazy! ha.

I'm using a Samsung tv and Sony amp, but I don't think it has anything to do with them.

Any help, much appreciated.

anyone?

Sounds like the hardware is not being detected when you switch.

When I have pc selected on the amp, the pc displays and then I switch back to it after say playing the xbox or whatever it displays again. So I don't think it is hardware related. Just when I switch back Windows has minimised lots of stuff. I don't know if it does it when I switch away or back, but by the time I am displaying the pc again it is all messed up.

Try turning the monitor off, then on again.

don't know how to fix it ,,, but I would say its because you are using a tv as your monitor ,just a guess though

It's a Samsung tv plugged in by hdmi. So shouldn't be have any different than a Samsung monitor plugged in by hdmi.

If I understand you correctly, you are feeding your TV via the AVR from the PC, and switching the source on the AVR and then back to the PC and the resolution is incorrect on the TV. It sounds like the AVR is not reporting the correct resolution to the PC from the TV after the switch so the PC outputs an incorrect resolution. Tye checking your HDMI pass-through settings on the AVR.

Nope, nothing to do with resolution. You are right about the switching, but when I go back to the pc certain windows and applications (which were in some cases open and in some closed) are minimised and pushed into the top left corner of the screen. So if I leave uTorrent minimised to the system tray, if I then switch and then back again uTorrent has been squashed and I'd then have to drag it bigger from the bottom right corner.
It is quite annoying. Any folder I have open are also squashed, so also require resizing again to read contents.

Xbox is 1080p and pc is 1080p, but in between switching, the pc might be going down to 480x640 or something stupid and then back again to 1080p when I switch back to it. But I would never see the 480x640 because I am watching the xbox.
