does Windows 10 recognise recently upgraded windows 7 from 32 to 64 bi

I registered for W10 upgrade before doing a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit from a 32 bit version. Now that I have 64 bit windows 7 I'm worried that the version of W10 will be 32bit. Is there any way I can check that I'll be installing the 64 bit version of W10? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello pixflix, and welcome to windowssh blog.

It will only be able to upgrade to a 64-bit Windows 10 since you have a 64-bit Windows 7 installed, so no worries.

If you are running win 7 64 bit software then your win 10 upgrade will be 64 bit software. You can not upgrade from 32 to 64 just won't work.

Thanks for your welcome and for the answers--but can I clarify, please? I applied for W10 before upgrading my machine to 64bit W7 and presumably my system was registered as 32bit with MS and a W10 32 reserved for me? I suppose I'm just trying to make sure that the W10 version ready for me to install isn't the 32bit version, because, presumably, it's possible for a 32bit W10 to install on a 64bit W7? And I don't want that to happen! Forgive me if I'm being thick, but I just want to be certain. Also, could the download of W10 which came before I upgraded to W7 64bit have survived the clean install and be the same one?--is another way of asking the question.

Just upgrade to the x64 you'll be fine.

That's ok. That was reserved on your previous installation, and would have no affect on your current 64-bit Windows 7.

It will only upgrade to 64-bit Windows 10, so you will be fine.

thanks you--so are you saying the installation procedure will automatically recognize and install 64bit or do I have to request it?

Yep, it will automatically recognize it as 64-bit and use the same version for the upgrade.

Ok, many thanks, much appreciate,

Glad we could help.
