Taking full control of Win 10 upgrades on 29th July ... ?

Hello

I have used the tray app to register for Win 10 upgrade on a number of PCs / laptops (Win 7 & Win 8).

However I am now a bit concerned that come "D-Day", the app will automatically download the installation files (or at least a significant amount of them) on 29th July - but I would like to take complete control over the upgrades as some of my computers require some preparation & research prior to upgrade.

Can someone clarify for me ?

Thanks

It will download the files but you get to choose when to install them.

So if I want to hold off any Win 10 activity on a machine I would best cancelling the upgrade for that machine ?

If so, and subsequently I then want to re-register to upgrade that machine, how would I do this ? With the same app or is there an alternative method ?

You do not have to cancel, you will have one year from the 29th to install it.

Sorry, should have made myself clearer.

I don't want any form of automated downloading of Win 10 installation files to some of these machines, but would prefer to download large single installation manually & save to media (USB / DVD) sometime after 29th. How would I do this for the relevant machines ?

Thanks - but those instructions are for Win 10 . These machines have Win 7 or 8 on them.

Try this one:

If you cancel your reservation for a free upgrade to Windows 10 and change your mind later, you can always reserve again until July 29th 2016.

Thanks

I would not upgrade at all,the only thing I can do now is internet, lost control of C drive, download installs, I liked windows 3.11, 98 ME, and 7 more than 10.
