Hi guys, my laptop, both my old(i dont have that one anymore) and my new one, have disk usage around 100% for not even 10mb usage. I have no idea why this happens, I turned off Superfetch and Microsoft search index thingy... Steam was updating a game, said it uses 7.1MB disc space, then i go to task manager, shows about 14.8MB and full disc usage.
Any idea how to adjust it? I adjusted my virtual memory to see if it will change anything, but so far no luck. My laptop is a Lenovo Y50, has 8GB RAM and runs games fine, but when I am installing or doing things to update my disc usage goes 100% with 10MB minimum...
Edit: Here is a picture
It seems very little MB takes up a 100% of the disc space, which I think is quite strange... Any help?
Please post a screenshot (or clear photo) of your task manager with the processes using most resources at the top of the relevant column.
Then try a clean boot and see if there's any change.
Which AV are you using?
I have ESET antivirus, there is a pic in the discription, there is no special item on top at times, aside from PluginCommunication but I end that when I see it. I am just wondering why only 10MB is up to 100%?

Hi, I've come across this comment in an ESET forum - hope it means sthg to you- presumably it's about adding Chrome to some exclusion list in ESETTo solve Chrome issue with ESS/EAV, Chrome exclusion under Protocol Filtering worked.
E.g.
Eset Chrome | Wilders Security blog
If you close Chrome, what happens to your disk usage?
Conversely, if you disable ESET.
(Preferred way to post pics is to use the icon to the left of the video icon - mouseover tooltip 'Insert Image')
Nope still same problem. With or without Chrome the problem exists. I added Steam, Chrome and Skype to the exclusion of ESET, aside from it starting slightly faster, the disc usage overall is low. But 10MB+Shows already 100% usage. Shouldn't that be more like 8000MB?
Hi, could you explain this 10Mb you're concerned about? I'm looking at your task man screenshot and an unexpectedly high level of disk activity (usage). From your comment I assume that's solved. Is your idle disk usage now 0 or very near?
It is near 0 now, yes.
I do not understand how, when I have 8GBRAM installed, it already gets to 100% with only 10MB.
...with only 10Mb what? where? doing what? as viewed how? Again. could you please explain this cryptic statement.
And a screenshot illustrating it would be great... thanks!
Whenever something is spiking in the task manager's Disc Usage, it already gets to 100% when a program is using 10MB on the DIsc.
Using 10Mb on the disk - means 10 million bytes are occupied on the disk platter.
Do you mean 'When a process is reading or writing at 10Mbytes/second from or to disk, disk usage spikes to 100%'?
If that's what this enigmatic 'using 10Mb on disk' actually means I'd suggest you rather need to look at what's running when these spikes occur. Or, by a process of elimination, identify the cause.
How frequently does it happen?
Please do a clean boot, wait 'long enough' to prove whether the disk spikes have stopped occurring.
