Which SSD are you guys using and how much of a speed increase has it given your boot times.
I bought a Samsung 850 Evo 256Gb, it takes about 10 seconds to boot to the lock screen. I am still in awe about how much faster they are.
Samsung 850 Evo 120Gb, it takes 9 seconds to boot to desktop
bios boot legacy, no Magician Software
I got the older Samsung 840 Evo, cold boot (not from hibernation) to desktop is around 26sec.
I heard how good 850s are. I will get one soon.
I too just purchased the 850 Evo, mine is a 500GB. I haven't timed it explicitly, but it's probably less than 10 seconds. I have tuned my UEFI firmware to boot extremely fast, and I've used the Samsung Magician to optimize the drive for performance.
You can do some test in Magician that are quite enlightening. IOPS (I/O Operations Per Second) on my SSD were 15x the regular drives, and the read/write performance was 2-3x. You really gain, however, in loss of seek latency.
Can you guys post your restart time?
I'd post my W8 restart time if I could find it, but W10, with the truckload of sh... stuff it loads? Naw!
We all have truck loads of crap.. so it's going to be a fair game...hahaha...
Have you seen the W10 Task Manager? Geeeeeez!
In W8 I could have the Task Manager window restored down and it still wouldn't have a scroll bar!
This is the restart time. I am running a Kingston 120 Gb SSD.
Ran into a dual boot glitch!
