Will Nvidia GTX 750 work with W10 build 10014

Hi folks,

Recently had a a GPU failure, so I'm currently running on Intel 300 onboard graphics.
This is on a i7 2700K CPU, plus 8GB RAM, into a 2560x1440 monitor.

The onboard graphics will not give me my native resolution (2560x1440)
Also, the whole system seems more sluggish, and images take a while to come up in Lightroom and Photoshop.
Consequently I'm thinking of buying a midrange GPU, and I've been looking at the Nvidia GTX 750. It fits my budget

Just yesterday I installed W10 build 10014 as my main OS, and it's running fine.

So, do people think that it is wise to get the GTX 750?
It's about all I can afford, and I'm not a gamer, so I don't need a more expensive one.

Will it give me my desired resolution?

Is it possible the onboard graphics are slowing down my pc?

Will the GTX 750 run on Windows 10? Looking around various blog, I see people having driver issues, so what is the score with this?

Also, there is a AMD card in my price range (the R7 260X). I have never used an AMD card, so I'm reluctant to change, but I hear their drivers are more up to date.

I would welcome some input on this, thanks in advance, John :-)

My wife's computer has a nvidia card and it works under 9926 and 10041.

AMD cards are pretty good. I have a R9 280x and I do love it...

Thanks Vladimir

I don't think I can afford a R9, but, as I say I'm not a gamer, I just want good graphics/resolution on my monitor.

I take it AMD drivers are working well with W10?

That is the card I am using and it works great. Plays COD AW better in 10 than in 7. I use the Nvidia Windows 8.1 driver with it.

Most Nvidia cards use the same software so if one works, others should. My 970 works fine.

Thanks @Gary and @swarfega, do you think I am correct in believing the system seems more sluggish because I am now using the on board graphics?
I shall invest in the bog standard EVGA version of the GTX 750, I had an EVGA card some time ago, and they seem well built. At least I'll get my resolution back :-)

thanks again for your input. J

Onboard graphics will never compete with dedicated cards. Depending what you do with your PC, I would think a 750 would be sufficient for all but the most demanding games.

Have a look at some 750 models and they search for them on youtube to see what reviewers think.

I actually have a EVGA GTX 750 Ti it is quite inexpensive and fairly quite. Some company, I can't remember which one came out with a 750Ti without a fan, just a heat synch. I would get one with the fan and it does not have to be an EVGA.

I'm running a EVGA GTX570 HD with the latest Nvidia driver.
It's working just fine on build 10041 and did so on build 9926.

Thanks Swarfega, and Gary, and to Jim otisdog for confirming it'll work with W10

I shall order one, when I get paid on Tuesday
