Windows 10 Screen Resolution and Power issues

I installed windows 10, updated all my drivers and still my screen resolution still cannot change. its really frustrating. i dont know what it means but my monitor shows device not migrated and i think that is the problem. also my videoncard shows that microsoft basic display adapter instead of intél. Please help cause i am about to revert to windows 7. i hve tried every solution on this site

I had the same issue with a Radeon HD video adapter that was connected to a Dell monitor using the DVI cable. Try removing the cable from the video adapter and monitor and then re-connect.

I updated from Windows 7 to 10 and the video adapter was working without any errors. After updating to Windows 10 it became stuck at a lower resolution 640x480. I tried re-installing the drivers, uninstalling and re-installing the drivers. I powered off both the computer and Dell XPS9000 multiple times. This did not resolve the issue.

I then removed the cable to try a different connection HDMI Mini DisplayPort or DisplayPort. Since I did not have the required cable I plugged the DVI back in and everything started working.

I cannot explain why this worked but it did.

Same exact issue started happening for me. Installed W10 (Clean install, not upgrade)back on tuesday (18 August)and both of my monitors were working fine. Started up my PC and my main monitor is suddenly running at 640x480. Both monitors do support 1080p, Dell U2414H as main running through miniDisplay Port, secondary Dell U2313HM running through DVI. Device Manager used to detect the main monitor fine prior to today, now it just appears as "Generic PnP Monitor". I haven't installed any new windows updates prior to this happening. In general, I didn't install anything new in the session prior to windows deciding to break. I can guess that it has something to do with MS releasing new generic monitor drivers that broke everything. Seems like only Display Port is affected. Good job MS.

What I have tried and what doesn't work:
Uninstall "Generic PnP Monitor" drivers, restart PC.
Try updating "Generic PnP Monitor" drivers to the monitor drivers found on Dell website. Nothing happens, besides it having correct name in Device Manager.
Uninstall nVidia drivers normally and then install them.
Run Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) through safe mode and then install nVidia 355.60 drivers again (Same drivers I was running since installing W10).
Trying to plug the monitor into a different Display Port in the back of the GPU.
Trying to change monitor input from miniDisplay Port, to Display Port and then trying different outputs on the back of the GPU.

PC Specs:
MB: Asus P8Z77-V PRO
CPU: Intel i5-3570k
RAM: 16GB DDR3
GPU: Reference GTX 980
Windows 10 64bit

EDIT: Dell states that U2414H has WHQL Driver available for W10 which clearly seems to be false due to the issues it seems multiple people with the monitor are experiencing.

I have a Dell U2413 monitor connected to my ASUS HD6450 on a Dell XPS 9000 / 435T. I am using a DVI connection. The previous RADEON HD 4870 was the one that was stuck in the 640x480 resolution until I disconnected and re-connected the DVI cable.

Thanks for your replies but i use a laptop not a desktop so here is no way to remove a monitor cable. Please hlp, i am about to revert to windows 7

i really need help on this. Can someone send me a direct link to download intel graphics driver for 32-bit hp compaq presario cq56-150ei

According to the HP Website they do not have any Windows 10 drivers for this laptop. The laptop has the INTEL 4 Series Express Chipset Family Graphics. I would try the www.intel.com website.

Based on some comments that I have seen it appears that INTEL did not make Windows 8 drivers for this chipset.

Good luck ....

wait so if there isnt any windows 10 driver for that chipset, i have to use this crappy resolution.
