I use Auslogics for disk defrag.
Malewarebytes, free edition, for On-Demand protection to scan for viruses.
Windows Defender for Real Time protection.
Those are what I use for 2 years. I have no complain.
Whenever you find something that claims to "Boost" your computer speed and performance, check with us first. Most are just snake-oiled and some are downright fake, or worst.
One last thing, it is NOT necessarily true the a program that one has to pay for is always better than the one that is free. Everything depends on how you use the computer and what you need out of the computer.

VLC is a media player.
It plays music, videos and DVDs.
In Windows 10, Windows Media Player can no longer play DVDs. One of the alternatives is using VLC player to play DVDs.
Google it yourself.
