Two Windows Updates repeatedly installing!

Windows 10 10240
Since the middle of November the only Windows Updates that have downloaded are Security Update for Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Silverlight, Malicious Software Removal Tool and Update for Windows 8.1 forx64-based Systems (KB2990967) and Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems(KB3063843) these last two updates keep repeating to download and install. I can see no other updates ready to download, that includes the KB3122947 1511 update which does not appear when I check for updates!
Why do KB2990967 and KB3063843 keep downloading and installing?Any suggestions?

Just a very long shot in the dark.

First do a backup and/or system restore and check your OS partition for errors (chkdsk); then boot into safe mode and try deleting the windowsSoftwareDistribution folder. Restart and try again.

Hello scopio,

You might see if resetting Windows Update may help.

I run sfc /scannow and chkdsk and then run the .bat file above and I still get the same two updates only!

In that case, I would recommend to refresh or reset Windows. Be sure to back up anything you don't want to lose first.

In that case I will download Windows 10 Home with the Media Creation Tool and clean install Windows.
I can then reinstall all my programs and as I have all my data backup I can then copy them to the relevant folders.
Do you know if the MCT has the latest 1511 version of Windows 10?

Get use to it. Windows 10 corrupts all the time. I had to do a clean install 5 times already since using Windows 10. I hate it. Windows 8.1 was even better never had to do a clean install and Windows 7 only once when changing the hard drive.
