When I sleep or lock my computer and then wake it up the start menu is always open. How do I stop this?
Did you ever figure out how to stop this? Started happening to me last month and is annoying. I can't find a setting anywhere.
If you lock the device fast enough you can prevent the start menu from showing up.
Click on lock and quickly click any where else on the screen, there it goes. Unlock again and there ain't no start menu.
Or use Alt+F4 for the purpose, That will solve that out.
#The start menu is kinda cool though.
You could try enabling 'Go to the desktop instead of Start when signing in' in gpedit.mscto see if it helps.
gpedit.msc/User Configuration/StartMenu and Taskbar/Go to the desktop......
double click 'Go to the desktop......./Enable/Apply/OK/Restart
Thanks, but it isn't tablet mode with a screen of tiles that I am referring to. It's desktop mode, with the start menu popped up upon waking up. Making sense?
Still haven't found a fix. Still see start menu open when I wake my computer
Same here. Surprises me more haven't seen this.
This didn't fix the problem. Anyone have a fix for the start menu still open after sleep once you click the Power/sleep icon?
Apologies for necro'ing this thread, but here's a solution which works for me.
Grab the PsShutdown utility from Microsoft here:
Create a shortcut to it (on your desktop or in your Start Menu in C:Users\%USERNAME%AppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms), and add two command line parameters so that the shortcut target now looks something like:Running the shortcut will put your PC to sleep, and upon wakeup the Start Menu will not be displayed.Code:"C:Program Filespsshutdown.exe" -d -t 0
I would prefer a simpler fix.
I still have this problem too.
