Start Menu. Possibly a self inflicted problem. It is to small.

This issue is occurring on my old Acer laptop on which I clean installed the AU. The start menu was originally OK size wise, but then I went and deleted a bunch of the included tiles (netflix, food, all those) from the right hand side of the menu.

The problem now is that I can not seem to get back to having two vertical fields of tiles whereby I can add two sets of name or headers. The pictures make this clear. In the second image I have just one long vertical field of tiles with a single customisable name running horizontally.

I've tried all the options I can see under 'start' and also tried resetting the screen resolution to the default small 100% size. One further thing that I can't swear to now and I'm not sure whether this had any bearing on the problem... when setting the resolution I used the recommended option as shown in the 3rd image. This gave blurry text in Explorer and so I used the custom dpi to set a 125% view.

If I switch to 'full size' for the start menu then I get my vertical columns back, but these disappear again when reverting to normal view.

In the bottom shot, hit the hamburger button and you'll get the top screen.

Hmmm. I've tried this with no joy I'm afraid. Nothing seems 'drag-able' at this point to bring stuff over into the now grey area.

Top shot... there are two rows of header. One is 'start and the other I've customised to 'File and Library access' and so on all the way down. That's what I have lost. I now just have a single customisable header for the vertical row of tiles.

Hi, I think you moved your tiles all way to the right. Pull them back to where it says "free!

Pull your Menu larger with your Mouse (1) then drag a group up there (2)

Also, in Settings, if you "Show more Tiles",
you'll be able to put 2 large, 4 medium or 8 small tiles in each column.

Thanks for the replies folks.

AndreTen, I tried dragging tiles to the area at the left but as soon as they enter that area they change to a 'no entry' sign. If you attempt to place there they drop onto the desktop.

Edwin, the borders are already dragged to maximum size (and that seems small to me). I have 'more tiles' selected. I've had a good play with those settings. Tried dragging the name groups as it stands now but no joy I'm afraid.

Having faffed around and tried all sorts (and feeling like a right dipstick because I think I've sussed it), I'm currently just restoring back to a disk image made today before I started trying to fix this.

I don't know if this is how it works for everyone but this sure had me foxed. The right hand border was dragged to maximum size, although having said that it wouldn't go any smaller either in the horizontal direction.

If you look at the second picture in post #1, I went and placed the cursor over the right hand start menu border, left clicked and attempted to drag. Nothing happens apart from the cursor moving butif you keep going toward the right screen edge the start menu suddenly snapped to a larger size. Yea Very odd and not at all intuitive.

i know this is late to ask, but nevertheless... Have you tried Brinks tutorials for resetting the start menu?
