New Computer...No longer have the Acer

I got me a new computer yesterday. I no longer have the Acer. I was about ready to beat that Acer. My new one is Windows 10 compatible. I removed some bloat ware. What should I do to get started with my new one?

Congrats on the new computer!

Are you new to Windows 10? If so, the first thing you want to do is familiarize yourself with the new Start menu, play with Cortana, the Edge browser and learn where Settings have been moved to.

I know what I do. Make an image backup of the hard drive with Macrium Reflect Free. Export any manufacturer specific drivers with the DISM /Online /Export-driver command. Then wipe the hard drive and clean install Windows.

Good luck with it,

New computers usually come with a program to back the hard drive to a flash drive. I always buy a new flash drive but it's not necessary if you don't have the money. Usually the flash drive is 32 GB. I would run that program, label the flash drive, and put it in a safe place. Don't use the flash drive for anything else. Only take it out if your hard drive fails or you want to reinstall Windows.

Another good idea would be to is to install Macrium Reflect Free and make a backup of your entire hard to a portable hard drive. You can never have to many backups.

[Edit] Navy beat me to it.

No. I am not new to Windows 10. I have 2 other computers running Windows 10. My old one (The Acer) ran Windows 10, but it wasn't compatible with 10 so I had a lot of issues with it.

I sure will!

I may have to take this one back and get the HP as it is running really slow. My old computer wasn't compatible with 10, and it wasn't this slow. Can someone please advise me on what I need to do?

Does anyone know? Right now, it's in an Endless Undoing Changes loop from installing updates.

I don't have an answer to your problem but you should start a new thread. People looking through the titles will not know you're in this loop.

I got it fixed. Had to boot to Advanced System Options and do a System Restore.
