Windows 9 Features, Price, Release Date [REPORT]

Windows 9 was been a hot topic of discussion even before the launch of Windows 8. The current Microsoft OS is almost two years old, but it has failed to impress users. Though the updates improved on some of the features, the sales numbers were less than expected. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is certainly aware of the situation, and it is widely expected that Windows 9 will be a big improvement on Windows 8.

Since there has been no official news, most of the available information on the Windows 9 comes from a series of leaks and rumors that refer to “Project Threshold.”

You must have a big screen? Your going to give up a big chunk of it to the open Start Menu. Assuming it will actually stay open when you mouse away from it and change focus to the desktop. It will be interesting to see how this will work.

Once again, I don't understand the criticism. I use the Start screen as my principal method of accessing my programs. I do have a decent size Touch screen. I prefer, in spite of that, to use the mouse. One click to the start menu, one click to my favoured programs. All the minor programs are still one more click away - just as in the sub folders in the classic START MENU. What do you mean by the comment "big chunk" Its just a start menu - in and out

For me the more I see the new start menu the more I dislike it, make it optional and not based on type of device used, the only thing this new menu would make me do is un install all store apps, do not want/need them on the desktop, if I am on the desktop I will use a desktop program

Well I'm hoping for a good deal, got one when 7 came out, this Asus came with 8 installed. It will be interesting to see how an upgrade would work because when it did the 8.1 update it split the C: and D: drive putting another recovery partition.

I agree. I bought the $40 W8 upgrade and this would be just half of that cost.

Not if you want to leave it open so you can see the live tiles. Which is what I thought Gornot was thinking of doing. If you have multiple monitors its doable but with a single screen its going to hog some of your screen space. That's all. I'm like you. The stuff I use every day is pinned to my taskbar for quick 1 click access. Other frequently used programs and Apps are pinned to my Start Screen. The rest is in All Apps. The only live tile I use is The Weather Network, which is usually open and running on my other screen anyway. I'm happy with the current Start Screen.
