The above screen shot is the Explorer menu ribbon. How can I increase the text size of the menu ribbon. The settings under Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsDisplay have no effect.
Hi, this works for me (note 'Menus'):
I have the menu text set to 13 wit a dpi of 125% but that doesn't affect the text size of the menu ribbon (not the title bar or address bar) shown in the photo.
Hi, don't know why that isn't working for you: here's what I see with two different font settings for Menus- two full-screen screenshots of explorer: you can see the orange Firefox text in both is the same for reference:
(The title bar in the second is larger too 'cos I made the mistake of applying the font change to Titlebars as well so ignore that)
Is it because I enabled the Aero theme?
Aero theme on Win 10? You can't get Aero (transparency) as in Win 7 on '10... only some transparency in the Start Menu. Perhaps you mean the Aerolite theme referred to in this forum- colours in the title bars. Doubt that would affect it.
You could check in Safe Mode.
I certainly use colours there, and use Aeroglass (a small program). That does give me some transparency in the title bars.
Yes, I did mean the Aerolite Theme.
I noticed in another account having lower settings for message box & palette title that the menu ribbon was displayed in larger text. I then made the same settings in my normal user account and the ribbon bar text is now larger as I wanted.
I then discovered that the Explorer ribbon displays in smaller text if I select a Message Box text size larger than 11! That's weird and must be a bug? It's also annoying since selecting a larger Message Box text size display larger Chrome shortcut button text.
The current settings which work to display larger Explorer ribbon text are:
DPI scaling 125%
Title Bars 14
Menus 13
Message Boxes 11
Palette Titles 11
Icons 12
Tooltips 11
What do the settings for Message Boxes, Palette Titles and Tooltips actually adjust?
Hi, noted you have a laptop (same res'n as mine) and a desktop. Do you notice a difference between these two and have you tried simpy changing the menu font size on both? Which of these are you having difficulty with?
I have display settings as default on my laptop (DPI scaling = 125%), and no problem as shown in increasing the ribbon text size.
I've only been experimenting with my laptop.
Ok, so you could see what happens if you only change the menu font on your desktop, assuming that's running '10.
FWIW at least these reg entries change when that font setting is changed:
