Hi,
Since I upgraded to Windows 10, my internection drops out every time that my laptop is not in continual use. The connection actually says: "connect automatically" but it still goes off every time I leave my laptop for longer than 10 minutes or so. This is frustrating, as I need to be in contact via Skype all the time.
Is there a reason for this?
Karin
I have a similar issue in that the connections goes dead randomly for just a few seconds and then re-starts. I think there was another thread that states MS was aware of the issue.
You may want to check that the computer is not putting the Network Adapter to sleep:
Use the following steps to open Device Manager:
- Type Control Panelin the search box.
- Click Control Panel.
- Click Device Manager.
Right-click the network adapter(that keeps getting turned off), and select Properties.
Go to the Power Management Tab> uncheck the option that says “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”, and press OK.
I had already tried this and it did not work. I did find an updated driver for my adapter (Realtek) and so far no more problems. Thanks for the suggestion!
you're welcome
Okay, after installing the updated Realtek driver yesterday and re-booting, the intermittent loss of connectivity problem has gone away. However, I'll keep an eye out to see if it keeps working...gotta love Win 10!
