I'll tell you what I think shall I? I think that Microsoft doing away with Windows Live Essentials such as mail and messenger is wrong, they are basically trying to FORCE people who HATE skype (such as myself) to use it and outlook and I much prefer Live Mail and Messenger and now that I can't have either, I have no way to communicate with my family and friends except facebook which half of them don't even use and they HATE skype as much as I do! FOR FECK'S SAKE BRING WINDOWS LIVE MAIL AND MESSENGER BACK, MICROSOFT AND STOP FORCING PEOPLE TO DO THINGS YOUR WAY AND LET THEM FECKIN CHOOSE!!!!!!
Windows Live Essentials 2012 is still available and I run it on Windows 10. It has Mail but not Messenger.

Exactly my point, I liked Messenger, I can't STAND Skype and it's not fair how Microsoft are forcing people to use skype instead of messenger! Besides I've tried using my new email address on Windows Live Mail and it doesn't work and I can't figure out why! I'm typing my password in correctly!
I just clicked on Windows Live Mail and it opened without asking for any password.
It is linked to my User Account.
Also my Outlook Account
They paid to much for Skype to not use it ,,,I use live mail with out issues with Hotmail and service providers email addresses ,I fought everyone had cell phones, and called or text each other.....I think apple sold 60million or more last 1/4,someones using them anyway
After Microsoft bought Skype, they decided they didn't want to support two different messenging formats. You can't really blame them. They decided to standardize on Skype, largely because skype works through firewalls, whereas Messenger required a proxy if you have a firewall that blocks it.
Microsoft is no longer supporting the Messenger protocol, so even if you had Messenger in Windows 10, it wouldn't work. The service is being shut down.
It always amazes me that people can feel so entitled to a free service. I've seen it with google, and others as well, they decide to shut down and people throw a tantrum and complain, when they were getting the thing for free to begin with.
If you don't like Skype, try Google Hangounts, or any of Yahoo Messenger, or Pidgin or any of the other dozens of apps out there.
FYI, something that you should consider, Skype is one of the few Messenging systems that encrypts your communication by default, most don't and just send messages as clear text that anyone can read. Think about that when you send credit card numbers or other sensitive information over a messenger app.
Yeh exactly my point, Microsoft are idiots, they're not giving us a choice, I have no way to converse with my family and friends now except Facebook which like I said half of them don't even use. I don't LIKE Skype and Microsoft should have given people an opt out option instead of forcing us all to use stupid Skype! And for the record my family and friends don't use any other IM programs and I have NEVER posted bank details online anyway, I either do that over the phone or not at all!
May I politely ask what it is you don't like about Skype.
I think they should give you a choice, but for a price. Options cost money and that should be paid by those who want the options. Write letters to stay in touch with your friends. That will be a lot cheaper than a MS solution.
Microsoft has been warning people for 3 years that Messenger is going away. They have given you ample opportunity to find a replacement. It's not like your friends and family can keep using it without you, they can't use it either.. so they must choose something.
