Guaranteed crash around 10 mins after startup "mv91xx1"

Morning Everyone,

Upgraded to Windows 10 around 2 weeks ago and since then I have been having constant problems with crashes after startup.

These usually occur around 10 minutes after getting into Windows. Everything will just hang, I can still move the mouse, but unable to open anything, including task manager. The whole OS will just freeze, I then manually power down the machine and it gets past bios, but then hangs on the windows 10 symbol with the loading bar for around 10 -15 minutes, after that it boots into windows without any issues and will continue to work all day without any issues. So it only crashes on the first boot of the day??

I have checked through event logs and appears to be normal only event which seems to occur around the same time of the crash is "The device, DeviceScsimv91xx1, did not respond within the timeout period." but I am unsure if this is related.

Any help would be appreciated and let me know if you need any more info from myself.

Thanks

Hi Lilitsu,

Welcome to the 10blog.

Your issue is related to performance and maintenance problems.

But I have a few tips for you
  1. Disable the Nvidia Streamer Service in services (search: services.msc), this service could cause system freezes
  2. Disable startup items in taskmanager, these programs might interfere with the boot process
  3. Partitions H en Z have not enough free space, this could cause problems. Free up space in these partitions until you have at least 10-15% free space.

Thanks for the quick reponse, I have done the things you have advised. Will have to see if the problem is solved when I boot tommorow

Hopefully it was as easy as that.

You're welcome

Please note, this thread might be moved to the Performance and Maintenance section by a moderator soon.

Ok unfortunately it crashed again just now. Worked fine all throughout yesterday, but today just the same crash. Anymore ideas what could be causing?

Enough, because a freeze has a lot causes.

But it might be better to create a thread at the Performance and Maintenance sectionfor more and better help.

A few tips

  • Check in the device manager for 'mv91xx1' and remove or update its drivers if this device is the cause
    • If that device is not the cause, disconnect every peripheral, but keep mouse and keyboard connected, if this helps enable 1 peripheral at a time until you find the cause

  • Defrag your hard drive (HDD only!)
  • Update drivers and software
