Activation Error on Fresh install 0xc004f050

Hi!
I recently attempted upgrading to Windows 10 and the installation went without too much hassle, however at one course during the installation, there was a step that required to me enter my activation code. I entered it but the installer claimed it was invalid, however as I was already in the process of installation I chose to skip the step and do it later. Here I am on the platform and I have again tried to change the activation key (for windows 7) which was provided to me upon purchase of my ASUS computer. I'm hoping someone could help me out and tell me what I could do to fix the problem.
Thank you,
Dave

If you upgrade windows 10 from windows 8.1 or windows 7 you don't need the keys, and you should press SKIP in the install proceed, because the windows is already use genetic keys and your hardware identification to verify your activation

I am in the same situation as Dave and I finished the installation without entering a key but Windows 10 say it needs to be activated and when I enter my Win7 Pro Licence # I get a 0xc004f050 error message.

Do not enter a key at any time when installing Win10 using the free upgrade offer - it will not work.
Go back to your prev. OS, activate it, and do the upgrade again. Do not clean install Win10 until after the upgrade, and after you have verified Win10 is activated.

I had win7 installed and activated. I then did an upgrade to Win10. It completed successfully but said it required activation,
???

Did you run the upgrade from W8 (not from boot media)?
What activation error do you get?

I ran the upgrade from Win7 Pro. I get error 0xc004f050.

I ran the upgrade from Win7 Pro. I get error 0xc004f050.
And did you upgrade to Win 10 Pro? What method of upgrade did you use?

Yes, I upgraded to Win 10 Pro from a USB Flash Drive plugged in while I was running Win7 Pro.

You can try this. Open an elevated command prompt - type command in search and the top entry should be command prompt app, right click and "Run as Administrator". Type slmgr /upk

That will remove existing license keys.

Type slmgr /ato

That will attempt online activation. Don't know if it will work or not, but worth a try.
