I just upgraded from WIn7 to Win10. The upgrade went very well. However, there is one issue I am concerned about. Microsoft Money Plus Sunset edition is no longer working :-( Others have posted fixes to include a registry hack. I really don't want to go that route. But I do want a functioning checkbook program on my PC.

My guess is that I could create a virtual machine and then reinstall my WIn7 inside that VM. I doubt MS really approves of that; however, I am not paying for another OS on a single computer particularly as a result of an MS program that should continue to be supported as it has for all previous OS. And I would presume I wouldn't have a hard time keeping the Virtual Machine WIn7 activated using my retail version of 7 (that was just upgraded to 10).

Aside from doing that.....and assuming MS refuses to address this issue, does anyone have any suggestions regarding a highly regarded checking program? I don't know if it's changed, but I wasn't exactly so impressed when I used Quicken (briefly) a few years ago and went right back to my Microsoft Money Plus (Sunset edition).

I always thought it was such a shame with MS discontinued making new versions of Microsoft Money Plus. This is a great little program that is so convenient and easy to use....and unmatched by any other software!!! Why on earth did MS discontinue it in the first place? Seemed like there was no logical reason for it! But that Microsoft Money Plus Sunset version (17) has continued to work flawlessly in WIn7. And as I understand, it also works in Win8.1.

Any suggestions, help from others? Thanks.

the corrections to the Registry make money work just fine. The only problem with it is that each time you get a new update to 10 you will have to do it again. Making the registry changes is small problem to go through to completely restore the program.

If you refuse to make the change for whatever reason then I have no suggestion since I have searched for alternatives and could find none suitable.

good luck

I read somewhere today that MS is supposedly aware of the problem and may offer a fix in a few weeks. Of course, that may (or may not be) true. But the fact that the program worked fine in earlier builds of Win10 means there is hope. Plus, I still have Win7 installed as a virtual machine on my secondary computer.....so I will continue to use Microsoft Money Plus on that computer and see what happens going forward during the next few weeks.

I made the change to the Register. MS Money Plus was enabled. However ...after initiating a DOWNLOAD from my Bank Accounts Microsoft Windows 10 gave me a Drop-down Box saying that a problem had occurred with MS Money and it was being shut down. I can not get past this problem. If I had saved the date information that I changed in the Registry ...I would put it back in and wait to see if Microsoft will do a FIX for MS Money. As it stands right now ...I can't get into Ms Money to retrieve any information at all. That's a huge problem for me and I am considering re-installing my previous Windows 7. Any helpful comments out there?
