Edge Browser is Popping Up on Me Constantly

I have Windows 10 and everything is running ok. Then, yesterday, I ran Windows Update and Update installed THREE updates....

KB3881449, KB3881488, KB3081452

It seems to be a NEW and BAD HABIT of Microsoft NOT to give us any details on what these updates do to our operating systems, what problems they solve, what features they provide or take away or what they modify. It would certainly be helpful in trying to diagnose a nasty problem that develops immediately, doesn't it? I don't like this new attitude at Microsoft of "we will run your computer and you will like it". Anyway, after updating and rebooting, I immediately started having a problem with the new Microsoft Edge Browser. It is now popping up on me without being asked to. This problem started immediately after I installed the updates and I DID NOTHING ELSE on my computer after rebooting.

There are a few things I want to say here...Microsoft DID THIS to my computer. I ran an anti-virus scan and malicious software scan using ESET SECURITY SUITE 8.0 both on my computer and an external ESET Anti-Virus Scan from ESET that sits off of my computer and nothing was found.

I also got ONE OTHER ERROR, I only saw it pop up one time and here it is, attached snapshot of the Error Message attached (it says)...

RUNTIMEBROKER.EXE

"The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested action."

I looked into RUNTIMEBROKER.EXE and it is an operation in Windows 8 and apparently 10 in the Kernel.

This article explains RUNTIMEBROKER...

I presume it has a similar duty in Windows 10. I do not know if it is a related issue to Edge popping up on me all the time or if it is an independent OTHER problem. I never saw this error either before installing the three updates. What is this error? I did not see it again tonight after booting up.

I still have Edge popping up on me every time I use Internet Explorer...and that brings me to the point I want to ask about. I believe I have the right to choose which browser I want to use and which one I do not. I prefer to use IE and not Edge, but apparently, Microsoft is attempting to FORCE ME AGAINST MY WILL to use Edge. I understand it is tightly integrated in Windows 10 with Cortana...but I DON'T GIVE A RAT'S REAR END about Cortana or Edge. Ten years ago, in the browser wars in Europe, the EU sued Microsoft for breaking EU law by attempting to push out Netscape and force everyone in Europe to Use IE. The EU ended up fining Microsoft a few Billion dollars in fines for attempting to do this. Now, is Microsoft asking for a lawsuit here in the United States?

I want to know how to disable Edge. If this means disabling Cortana, fine. If I want to continue using Microsoft IE, that is my preference. It looks like if Microsoft will not provide a way to disable or uninstall Edge, we are headed for a class action lawsuit because I can't be the only user who is pissed at the idea of being dictated to about which browser I am going to use and without HARRASSMENT.

If you know how to disable or uninstall Edge from Windows 10, please tell me how to do it.

Thank you,

Edge opening constantly might be malware.

Edge is installed as the default Windows 10 browser. Here's how to make Internet Explorer the default browser instead.

I believe the icon for Edgeis automatically installed on the Taskbar. The icon looks very similar to the Internet Explorericon.

To pin the Internet Explorericon to the Taskbar, click on the Start Button, click All Apps,
Scroll down and click on Windows Accessories. Right Click on Internet Explorer, click on Pin To Taskbar.

The Edgeicon is a darker blue. The Internet Explorericon is lighter blue with a gold diagonal arc across it.

Right click on the Edgeicon and select Unpin From Taskbar, if you wish.

Now to make Internet Explorerthe default browser:

Click on the Start Button, Settings, System, Default Apps, scroll down the Choose Default Apps list and Click on Web Browser- Edge, and choose Internet Explorerfrom the pop-up menu. This makes Internet Explorerthe default browser.

I have the same problem. Explorer.exe pops up each time I start the system. I followed the recommended steps above. However, I prefer to have Firefox as my default browser. What should I do?

explorer.exe is the file system manager. not a browser

Edge is not a safe browser to use. needs ad blocking alternatives. maybe adguard.
i would set anything but Edge as default browser

I don't use Edge. Perhaps I need to start a different conversation about Explorer.exe popup.
