No email associates ?

Win 10 Home, 10586.318
Default browser : IE11
WLM 2012

I have been receiving this for a few weeks now. See screenshot at the end.
Does anyone have a clue what is it about ?

*** Other than the message, all my 2 email accounts are working as they should. ***

I am using WLM 2012 as my default.
Email accounts configured in WLM : one POP protocol account ( Bell.net ) and one Hotmail account.
I also have the same Hotmail account added to the Mail app. Just this account. No bell.net.

I frequently receive this " no email associates" message and I don't have a clue what is that all about.
It might have something to do with the pending WLM not supported by Mail app ?
Do you think if I delete the Hotmail account from my WLM, that message will stop ?

Hi David,

What action are you requesting when you receive this message?

It could be that your default protocol for Mailto is not set. You will find this in "Choose default applications by protocol"

Adding :
I have been using WLM since its introduction to general public.
This issue started only recently, about 2 months ago.

I am assuming it is triggered when you click on some mailto link which is why I was asking about the protocols. Another one to check is how you have Mailto defined in the Registry? Look for an entry in HKLMSoftwareClassesMailto

Here is what I usually do in a daily basis :
I open WLM > check for emails > then minimize it to taskbar, and I will leave it there until I logout.
Not right away, but sometime later, that stupid message will show its face > I'll "x" it out > the same message will reappear sometime later > I'll just "x" it out again. It does NOT show up repeatedly. So, it is not exactly an annoyance.
That's it.

Thanks for the further explanation of the error. Not knowing what triggers it makes it hard to fix - and the error message implied some action was requested. Maybe someone else will recognise what it is.

It's OK.
I posted this question just wanting to know.
The issue is not an annoyance. I can live with it.

Thanks anyway.

Take a look at filetype associations in Control Panel > Default Programs > Associate a file type or protocol ...
Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsDefault ProgramsSet Associations

Scroll down to .eml - what pgm is associated?

Also scroll down to the MAILTO protocol - what pgm is associated?

eml :

There is no MailTo protocol listed

There is no MailTo protocol listed
Ok, .eml filetype is assigned to WLM

You need to scroll down to the Protocols section for MAILTO

You might also want to check Set Program Access and Computer Defaultsto make sure WLM is the default e-mail.
