No Service packs for 10

I heard around October is when they'll release a major update for 10 but there wouldn't be any service packs

No Service Packs For Windows 10; Support ends 2025 | www.infopackets.com

That article is dated July 23. There are currently two "Service Release" patches expected, which I guess work out to be the same thing as service packs. The N/A next to Windows 10 on this list: Windows lifecycle fact sheet - Windows Help
... is probably because there haven't been any released yet. I think it would be hard for Microsoft to predict what kind of support a new product will need at its outset.

Just another "journalist" who is making stuff up, and then claiming it's "confirmed" because he misinterpreted a web page.

He came to the conclusion that there won't be any service packs because it says "N/A". That's the wrong conclusion though. This lifecycle page gets updated when a service pack is released, and until then it would say "N/A".

In fact, Service Release 1 is due out next week.

That doesn't say no service packs. It says Enterprise customers running Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB, can defer upgrades if they want. How did you read no service packs from that? Has absolutely nothing to do with consumer versions of Windows 10. And as already mentioned, the first service release is due next week? Only the name has changed, IMHO. basically what Microsoft is saying is there will not be a Windows 10, Windows 10 with Service Pack 1, Windows 10 with SP 2 etc. It will just be Windows 10.

Will Windows 10 have service packs and should IT pros wait for the first one to arrive before installing the new OS? The experts don't think service packs for Windows clients really exist anymore in the new Window-as-a-service world.
"No, Windows 10 will not have service packs," Kleynhans explained.

It's still not Microsoft saying that, so what does it really mean? What are those statements based on, fact or fiction? And like I said, there are talking IT Pro's in an Enterprise business environment. Better still, why does it matter? Why do you care? What real impact does it have on consumers? Windows will still be patched and updated just like it always has.

I never said Windows 10 wouldn't be patched . I'm just mentioning there might not be no service packs . And time will tell whether it will be fact or fiction. I'm betting its a fact

Fair enough, was just wondering what your purpose for this thread was? To me, it doesn't really matter that they will never release anything calleda service pack, which is the way I read it. As long as the ISO's are kept current and updated every so often. Or the service releases are downloadable by them selves.

That was my thought what would we do 5 years from now if there no SP but like you say as long as they keep ISO updated is the concern . It would sucks and I can't see it happening if every time one does a clean install they would have to update thier comp from July29/15
