Windows 10 Reboots on Start

Hi All

Every time I switch on my PC I get to the loading Windows screen and then my PC reboots, it only does this once and on second boot it boots into Windows fine, even tried a fresh install on Windows and it's still the same, can't see anything in the event log only this.
The last shutdown's success status was false. The last boot's success status was false
All drives are up to date, PC running fine with no issues apart from the above, I don't use sleep or hibernate and power to the PC is switched off from the mains.

Thanks in advance
Ged

Could you try with Fast Start-up turned off. Although this is meant to speed up the boot process after a shutdown it sometimes causes problems.

Type Power options in the search bar and press enter, Select "Choose what the power buttons do"; in the screen that opens select "Change settings that are currently unavailable" and uncheckthe option to turn on Fast Start-up.

Thanks for the reply but I don't use hibernation so don't have that option in settings, any other ideas

OK, this is going to need a little more investigation. I am guessing the problem only happens after you have left the PC turned off overnight.

This indicates that it is a cold start problem and suggests that your power supply could be at fault, either it is failing or does not deliver enough power to support the motherboard, hard disk, and any other components that come on with the start-up like the CD drive, USB devices etc. When you reboot, some of those devices are already up and running and so do not draw the same initial power requirement.

What is the power rating (Watts) of the power supply? Can you try removing any devices that require power from the MB/Power supply and are not needed at start-up and see if it makes a difference?

Hope this helps!

OK you could be on the right track, I shut the PC down and booted it up again and it booted fine, no restart! Power supply is a Cooler Master 500W
There's 2 hard drives that I use for storage that I could unplug, I'll also disconnect one of the monitors and try a reboot from cold, will do that now and leave the PC off for a while and report back

Cheers again

OK, I'm confident that you are on the right track now. 500W is a bit borderline especially if you have a graphics card driving two monitors. You might get away with just unplugging the 2 USB hard drives but you will need to experiment.

Well it looks like you're correct, booted fine from cold boot with the drives and monitor disconnected, forgot to mention their internal drives, so new power supply required, so you have any recommendations?
Thank you for your help with this, very much appreicated

Just to update, installed a new Antec Earthwatts EA-650 650W Platinum Power Supply and PC is booting fine now
Thanks to philc43 for the help
