Mozilla strikes Firefox search deal with Yahoo...

Mozilla Corporation and Yahoo announced a "strategic five-year partnership" agreement today. The deal makes Yahoo the default search experience for Firefox on mobile devices and PCs.

The new deal replaces a longstanding partnership between Mozilla and Google which concludes at the end of this month after 10 years. The most recent three-year renewal of that agreement paid Mozilla $300 million a year, an amount equal to more than 90 percent of the pioneering browser maker's annual revenue.

NO!!!

Despite losing Google as its cash cow, Mozilla isn't dead yet

The financial clock was ticking for Mozilla, Firefox's parent organization.

Its Google advertising contract was coming to an end. With 90 percent of Mozilla's income coming from Google, it was far from good news. With the contract ending in November, and no reason for Google to renew the deal with its Chrome Web browser success, things were looking dark as an overcast, moonless night for Mozilla.

I find this hilarious.

If IE and Firefox would join, we might have a pretty decent browser. My 2 cents

As if there is no way to change the default search engine manually.

It would have been better if they use Duck-Duck-Go. A more secure search engine.

They keep making the wrong decisions. First ads and now this. Yahoo hasn't been relevant for many years. I agree with DDG as an alternative.

They probably didn't have a choice. Google was paying them $300 million a year. Either Google didn't want to renew or Yahoo offered a better deal.

Or Google doesn't need firefox. Because they know, no matter what browser anyone prefers, Google is like an instinct when it comes to finding answers online.

Google probably recouped their loses and got the heck outta there and Yahoo probably jumped all over it!
Problem is now you'll probably see tons of 'tabloid' and 'social site' laden pages in results!

However, it's not hard to change default search engines and delete the rest, (knock on wood!)
You could even delete search plugins if need be.
