Display langage reverted back

I bought a laptop Acer in Germany with Windows 10 (german language, of course). I've replaced the german language with the italian language, everything went smoothly and I perfectly used the laptop for some days.

Unfortunately since a windows update I've some text in Italian and the majority of text reverted back in German (see the attached screenshot where I circled the german words). Nothing changes if I repeat what I did when I bought the laptop to change the display language.

Just to give you another information, this is what I get if I open Control Panel > Region, select the Administrative tab and click Copy Settings

in order to facilitate the translation this is the screen in english:

Any suggestion about how to solve my issue ?

Hi, can you post a screenshot like this please?

Note: to create a screenshot you can use the Windows snipping tool (Type 'snip' in tehe search box should find it) or use a (free) 3rd party program like PickPick, Duckcapture etc.

I'm thinking you may have to remove your Italian language pack and reapply it.

Add it to your post using the

dalchina, thanks a lot for pointing me to a crucial screen: I compared your screen with my "german" screen and I understood that the italian language pack was not installed. Unfortunately the standard procedure to install a language pack doesn't work: it freezes and goes back to the initial screen. It does that for every language pack.

Provided that I don't receive any suggestion (and I understand it's tough as I don't provide precise information) I'm about to give up going for a restore to factory settings

I suggest you do a couple of routine checks:

1. chkdsk
Press Windows key + X, Click command prompt (admin), type chkdsk C: /F
Wait for this to complete.

If ok, proceed, else post the result.

2. Press Windows key + X, Click command prompt (admin), type sfc /scannow
Wait for this to complete- could be 15mins+
Post the result.

(Noted it might be helpful to complete your specs)

I followed the suggested actions: everything OK from step 1. and I attach as requested the output for step 2.

for convenience I attach the google translation

I'm ready to act following suggestions (if any) before...going through the restore (please don't misunderstand, I'm not looking forward doing it).

I appreciate in any case your help

Ok, that's fine, but I guess if didn't help - and I'm not surprised as it will be a setting problem rather than a system file. But we also know your disk is ok.

Now, you said you had received an update since installing your Italian language pack. Try uninstalling any Windows updates, let them reinstall (run Windows update) and see what language you have on the display.

If that doesn't help, I'm going to recommend you do an in-place upgrade repair install to try to get back to a consistent situation.

Someone has noted this warning for cumulative updates:
ImportantIf you install a language pack after you install this update, you must reinstall this update. Therefore, we recommend that you install any language packs that you need before you install this update

Before asking help in this forum (actually to you) I rolled back the system to a sync point: the sync point I've chosen was the situation BEFORE the windows update. Nothing changed for my "language situation"

What do you exactly mean for "in-place upgrade repair install" ? It would be more than enough if you point me to a documentation, don't waste your time, I feel guilty with you

OK, thanks for the heads-up !

One more thought.. can you post the equivalent of this:

I just had to redownload my UK pack- sthg I've been meaning to do after an in-place upgrade install a week or so ago.. previously it was listed, but as 'not installed'.

Exactly like my Italian package: in the equivalent of your screen in post #2 is listed but marked as "non installed".

Here the screen you asked me:

The English package is part of the tests I'm doing (I'm exhausted) but what I'm experiencing is equal for every language: I always have just something in Italian and the majority of the screens in German regardless the language I choose as display language

Right, that's what I suspected.
So now you need to navigate thru the Settings dialogues until you can manage to install the pack.

Oddly, I've just been thru that. Eventually you can find how to re-download it.

However, the next stage after that is to get rid of the 'Search results aren't quite ready yet' even tho' indexing is complete when searching Settings.
