Windows messed up.

Since doing a refresh of Windows 10 some of my menus or whatever are messed up. It is hard to explain and I searched but since I don't know what it is called I will post a screenshot.

As you can see the tabs on the top are not flat and look like they did from Windows 2000. I can't seem to get them flat. I tried changing themes and I even created a new profile but they are still messed up. Besides doing another refresh there has to be a way to fix this.

Mine looks nearly identical except the tab on mine is whitened when selected and by default when it appears.

You could try right clicking on your desktop and navigating: This PC/Properties/advanced system settings/performance/settings/ And under visual effects select adjust for best appearance and apply it and see if that makes a difference?

Okay I am ticked off. I just refreshed windows checking everytime to make sure and I was about done. No problems with the windows. I run ccleaner back to old Windows 2000 windows again. What happened?

Tried that just now did not work. What gets me is that it is not even every window. Most windows render fine just certain ones look dated. I am not refreshing this thing again as Windows is running better now than it did with this refresh. I just hope this is fixed in the next threshold because it seems like a windows bug.

See buy the picture below most windows look like this.

Also sorry but I should have posted this in the Customization forum but I was in a rush. Mod's you can move it there if you can please.

Sorry for bumping this post but I finally found out what is causing this and how to prevent it. After I ran CCleaner the windows would go into the old ugly w95 style. I found this out after I did a refresh after installing threshold 2. Before the refresh threshold 2 fixed the windows styles but I messed up my apps really bad even store would not open and had to do a refresh.

Anyway I used it to run it after I had everything installed and set up. I said great now I have to deal with ugly w95 windows again. I well today I ran sfc /scannow from Powershell and it actually found errors and fixed them. The only thing I did different was to launch it from the task manager and checked run as admin which did not pop up a UAC control.

I was surprised because whenever I ran this useless tool it always said "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations" even when my apps were messed up and it did not fix anything before the last refresh either and I ran it several times.

Well anyway I uninstalled CCleaner and I will be just clearing my browser cache and history right in Firefox and Chrome.

Just reinstalled Windows again last month and after running CCleaner made the windows look old and dated. Also this time sfc /scandisk gave me the useless "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations". Had to do a refresh again.

There has to be a easy fix for this that does not require a refresh but I searched Google and Bing until my head hurts and found nothing. Even the CCleaner blog had nothing. The only thing that I found linked to it is COM Surrogate which came up every time I loaded a corrupted Window.

I must admit I never payed attention to such details. Most are complaining about flat looks in W10 and wish to have old style looks and tabs.
Maybe you should look at all those themes in Customization thread, some amazing ones there.
BTW. your avatar looks like one of my cats, his name is Linux for obvious reasons.

I am afraid to ever run CCleaner in Windows 10 again. Windows build in Disk Cleanup is useless. It cleans only a few files and leaves many GB of junk files behind.
