I followed the initial Windows Update Win 10 directions to upgrade for free from Win 7 sp1 and had Win 10 activated successfully and even the command prompt code said i was permanently activated.
To my surprise when i did a clean install from a downloaded ISO directly from Microsoft i can't activate now , Win 10 installed fine , not all that different then when i did clean installs with Win 7 .
Problem is the computer won't activate , even did a second clean install and the same thing . This is my only computer , never owned anything else so it's certainly not a "installed on another machine issue" and it is definitely the same version of Windows.
I did do a refresh after i was having issues with the first upgrade but it was already activated , that refresh went haywire and Win 10 started with a never ending loop saying that no boot device was found .
Have no idea how that happened but it did , well i had to use a Win 7 recovery disk to find a way to boot the machine , i then used a Win 7 image to get back so i can upgrade to Win 10 again .
After trying for days to get a good ISO burned i finally did and after installing through the ISO no activation is possible anymore.
I guess the first question I would ask is whether the edition (home or pro) you installed from the .iso was the same edition you activated after the upgrade from Windows 7?
No doubt about it , yes it was.
And second question, during the clean install (not upgrade) from the .iso, you only hit "Skip" or "Next" all 3 times it asked you for a Product Key, right?
Yes Sir , i only remember two times where it requested the product key i believe but i skipped all of them.
OK, just checking. It may be time for more questions to come from higher up the "food for thought" chain here.
How long ago did you clean install, I would give it a few days or even until the next update before I would worry.
About four hours ago , what I don't get is the "connect to the internet to activate windows message" above the error code box .
I have been connected to the internet for hours and have restarted numerous times.
Seems weird: "specified product key has been blocked". But, as I understood it, you never specified a product key.
Good point , after i could not get it to activate doing anything else i tried my Windows 7 key so thats where that message comes from , i didn't expect it to work but at this point i will try anything .
