Three Mice Fail: Back to Windows 7

Both my notebook mice and my wired mouse have failed on Windows 10 latest build. At first it started that they wouldn't scroll no matter what repairs were tried on the mice, reinstalling drivers. Then they became increasingly unresponsive again no matter what I tried. It became clear this is a problem with the OS and not the mice, so I shrunk it to reinstall Win7 that I'd left behind last October. All the mice now work fine in Windows 7.

Anyone else have mouse problems in latest build?

Edit: I also notice that web videos that wouldn't play on either IE or Firefox in 10 also run on 7. Trying to figure if it could be related or just another bug with the build or how my install settled out.

Not me. I am using, on different machines, two cordless and two wired mice. One of the wired is an old off the shelf, Logitek. All working 100%

Wireless Logitech mouse hasn't missed a beat. Really strange that multiple mice have malfunctioned.

I use a generic Amazon mouse and it works without a hitch.

I have a Logitech keyboard and mouse wireless combo that works OK. Maybe the notebook drivers need to be updated.

Probably an issue with the driver for your USB controller. Check in the device manager if you have an exclamation mark for it. Find the right driver from manufacturer's site.

I never had issue and I am using a 6 year old logitech wireless media mouse.

All fine here Greg with my Gigabyte M6900 on my VM install.

It's especially a mystery because at first I was sure it's due to a hub I have plugged into the USB2 port on Lenovo G500 laptop I'm using with external monitor and keyboard here at home. So I moved each mouse to a USB 3 port which had intact driver and functioning fine for external drive, various phone chargers, USB sticks, etc.

Then I removed hub and tried each alone in the USB2 port. Still I had failure similar to battery going out in mouse, so for the two identical Logitech notebook mice (worked fine for years) I replaced battery, reset: no improvement. For each mouse I reinstalled drivers repeatedly. I did not reinstall USB drivers, they were functioning otherwise.

I'm using the notebook's own Win8.1 chipset and USB3 driver. I guess I should reinstall and try only the Win10 supplied drivers which I believe does not include USB3. I'll report back what drivers are missing after reinstall without supplying them right off.

Again, mice all work fine in Windows 7 and some webpage video that wouldn't play in 10 will now play in 7 in both IE and Firefox. This is the first time since October I've had to bail out of 10, though I have had to Refresh a few times due to buggyness that it overcame.

Thanks, all.

I have. My touchpad on my Pavilion dv4 goes crazy every once in awhile. I can plug in an USB mouse and it works. After reboot, it works.

No problem here. Using a gear head wireless from Wally world. Works great.
