Can't Add Default Photo Viewer App I want

Okay so another Windows 10 weird issue! I am trying to make IrfanView my default photo viewer app. However, Windows will not let this be! When I try to choose a default, but this app is not even recognized. What I can do is actually click on a image file and have those open in each app by default (as well as make some changes in "Choose default apps by file type" --> although this doesn't work for everything), but why can't I just make the setting change under default apps?

Try from within Control Panel for IrfanView, I'm not familiar with IrfanView, but,
MPC-HC you can set associations and defaults from within it's settings:

Yeah I had to edit the post because I just got MPC-HC to work! I'll try within IrfanView - if anyone knows specifically that would be great and I'll report it as well if I can find the right setting.

EDIT: IrfanView has an Options --> Properties/Settings, but can't find the right one like MPC-HC.

Unfortunately, IrfanView has closed registration on their support forum. So, this kinda sucks. Ha.

Yeah - I have it set as default for 54 out of 73 defaults (all photos basically), which is great, but that does not help with setting it as the "photo viewer" default on the first screenshot I attached. So, yes when I open a jpg it will open in IrfanView, but for some reason the program is still not set as the default photo viewer (or even show up as an option).

Associate a few file types with IrfanView in Control Panel:

then it should show up for default:

IrfanView is already set as the default for all photo options such as .jpg, etc. I'm not sure why mine won't show up for default like yours!

Although crap - I just realized I probably need the 64-bit version, so maybe I can uninstall, then set it as the default for some a photo file like .jpg and then try and see?

That worked! Uninstalled, added a few photo extensions as default, and it showed up! Thanks man.
