This warning is coming up with all documents and photos that I downloaded on the internet. It happens even with the files that I am synchronizing through One Drive.
The warning only stop if I keep the default Microsoft applications. So, for example, I need to remove the Irfanview and let the photos as default. So the warning stops happening.
There is how to solve this?

I tried to install Foxit reader (for PDFs) on 14316 x86 - after first attempt Foxit crashed each time it opened, or I tried to open a PDF.
Foxit did not show in list of default apps, but it had its Icon on PDF files and attempted to open them.
I tried to reinstall, but smartscreen filter stopped me. I had to unblock the setup file from properties, then run the installation as Administrator to get the installation going.
One file during the re-install caused an error, I ignored it. Foxit then finished installation and no longer crashed.
It still does not show as an application in the defaults list.
Similar thing happened to me when installing new version of MusicBee. Smartscreen prevented me to install it (in admin account).
I have to check a box in installer.exe properties to be able to install it. After i want to set some defaults for different file types I get series of warnings. A lot like your experience.

Logitech (Squeezeboxserver) Media server had to be unblocked as well.
Seems Ms have gone a bit Bonkers with security on this release.
Will stick it out for a bit longer or will revert. Security is good but TOO much of a good thing will make users switch it off completely --"Law of Unintended Consequencies" --in this case tightening security actually makes it WORSE. Rather like those silly companies who issue you with a totally random and not memorable password so everybody writes it down !!!! compromising security big time. !

Please tell me there is a way to disable this "feature" completely.
I am currently getting prompted everytime i open .jpg files and many other non executable file types. It is actually wasting a lot of my time and very annoying and pointless.
Are you sure you want to open the file that you just opened, welcome to high level security from microsoft.
I have smart screen disabled and windows defender. So its not that. I remember this being a problem in the past with .exe files and had to go in to local group policy or registry to resolve it. There must be a similar fix for this in windows 10 latest build. Why not just add an option in the security section of the control panel, they could call it:
Annoying waste of time Open file warning, enable/disable.
Did you try to reset file associations and select default apps?
