In the earlier Windows 10 builds, there were things I didn't like about the new Solitaire, but I have to say the RTM version doesn't impress me much for being an inbox app for Windows 10.
1. Really don't like that it now has general ads. That's a huge turn-off.
2. It also now advertises itself. In the menu, it has ads to upgrade to the premium, subscription-based version of Solitaire.
3. The load times seem to be a little longer now than in the previous versions.
4. It now more forcefully tries to get you to sign into your Xbox account. As soon as you open the app, it tries to get you to sign-in. It's possible not to show the dialog again, but it's still a bit of a put-off, especially in environments where settings cannot be permanently saved on a computer.
5. It is now also heavily Xbox-branded.
6. This was also I complaint I had about earlier Windows 10 versions, but all the hint bubbles and connections to "the cloud" are a bit of a turn-off. The pre-Windows 8 versions of Solitaire were quick, "open and play" games.
Again, just my opinion, but I find much to dislike about the new version.
I notice that not a single critique had anything to do with the actual solitaire game itself or any of it's gameplay....
I agree.
Why can't they just include the game as it was in W7 or Vista.
MS keeps forcing this "app"-style crap... It's so annoying!
I actually really enjoy it, especially the XBox Live integration.
Sure. But there is more to any program than just how it plays at its core. In some environments (i.e., anywhere where permanent changes cannot be stored because of programs like DeepFreeze or mandatory profiles), these changes will basically make it annoying just to start the game because there will be a bunch of prompts to go through.
Any way to just make Solitaire from Windows 7 works on 10 ?
