Another Desktop Icon Question

O.k......so I have my desktop icons set up and working, one small problem that I need help with.......some of the icons have their ''own'' emblem.....and some don't.......for instance, Glary Utilities has the Glary emblem, Malwarebytes has the Malwarebytes emblem, and so on......BUT, the Facebook icon has the Edge emblem, WHY?.......I can change it by going to properties, and selecting ''change icon'' but can not change it to the Facebook logo.........any help appreciated........Del.

Hi, your shortcut which takes you to Facebook will, by default, have the icon of the program which is launched when you double click it, and is presumably one you've created. That's its association as (presumably) an html file.

Only if you manually change it will it be different.

For example, if I create a desktop icon whose URL is windowssh blog, its icon does not magically somehow represent windowssh blog.

If you wish to change the icon, you need an appropriate image. You can probably find one by searching for

facebook icon
or
facebook
and click Images (if that's available in Edge- don't use it)

I.e. find an image you want, download it, and use it to customise your shortcut.

The other shortcuts you refer to have been explicitly created by those programs with an icon which indicates what they are.

O.k. Thanks for that........did what you said, but still can't get the Facebook icon to show up on the desktop icon........it still shows Edge icon........I must be missing something.........Del.

How do you want your facebook icon to look? What over all color?

Just the standard Facebook icon.......it is annoying me that I can't do it.

Gimme a few to find and create.

You must be missing the bit about acquiring an image- this is what I meant about locating images.. then you choose and download the one you like, ensure it's an appropriate file type or converting it as necessary.

Then you rt click on your shortcut, properties, web document, change icon, browse to your image, select, OK.

You can even browse to an exe or other file containing icons and choose one of those, but you probably don't have one with a Facebook icon in it.

Ok I just made two FB icons.
Here is what they look like(they're just png, for the icons(ico), you need to click the zip file and download it,

2 Facebook Icons.zip

  1. Right click the zip file, open properties, and check "unblock" then extract them.
  2. After that, place them where you will NEVER move them(Documents for example).
  3. Then right click your current desktop icon.
  4. Select change icon.
  5. Search for where you placed the new icon and select them.
  6. Apply.

O.k......Got Facebook icon in downloads, but can't get it to existing icon already on desktop........when I click on change icon, and look in downloads folder it says ''no icons here''.....or something like that.........Del.
