Login method keeps getting switched from PIN to Password.

My Login keeps getting switched from PIN to Password. I can see it happening with an upgrade to a new build but this last update did it again. It's getting rather annoying now to be honest. Leave my logon set to PIN dammit.

You need to automatically connect into a network (wifi/lan) just after login screen appeared, PIN login method need internet connection, if you're offline then it will be prompted to use password

Not true, PIN is stored locally on the device and is unique to the device. I can use a different PIN on each device. I just booted up that PC with the WIFI dongle unplugged and logged in with my PIN. The plugged the WIFI dongle back in.

As near as I can tell, if I run Windows update, and it requires a reboot, it switches back to Password. This morning it was looking for my PIN, tomorrow who knows? It's only this PC running the Insider Preview that's doing it. My laptop is running the current consumer release and has never switched on its own from PIN to Password.

Mines the same. Ever since it was introduced and only using WU for builds.
lappy with wifi.

I can put up with it on insider builds. Hopefully it doesn't toggle very often on the consumer release. Thanks' for confirming its not just me.

Which build u r using? Newest 14393? Actually i've ever get similar problem like this. My laptop always connected automatically to my wifi every boot, but it won't let me login with my pin or password, it says i was offline and need to use password, but i already typed my password in the password fill, but it keeps telling me that. And then i tried to boot into WinPE and delete host file, and after that my laptop is logged in successfully

Yes I'm running 14393.3, 14393.5 in a few minutes, its updating again. Will see if it resets to password on the required reboot. It was still on PIN when I logged in. It makes no sense to block you from logging in if you have no Internet connection. Think about it? If you take your laptop to the coffee shop, you have to log in to connect to their WIFI. If you can't connect, you can't log in? Plus you may end up where there is no WIFI. And what about airplane mode? Log in credentials are stored locally. I can unplug my network cable on my desktop PC and still log in and use it. I have no idea what's going on in your case? Unless its trying to log on to a domain? Is this a work PC or your own personal PC?

Toggled back to Password logon again.

Umm, every laptop on my house, need internet connection for PIN logon, if there are not then it will switched automatically to use password instead. But in ur case, since it was a really new build, it may have new things, i'm already rollback to official release (th2)

That's not the way its supposed to work? Local accounts of Microsoft ID login?
