This happened just as i was typing into the url bar in google chrome. My 2 monitors both went black, then my 2nd showed some signs of life with the taskbar showing. i try clicking on the start menu and a black box shadowing the start menu showed but no actual start menu. Then i hovered over some open programs and the preview box showed with a big black border around them and no actual preview of the program. At this point i figured it was something to do with the graphics card. I was able to recover my primary monitor by clicking where the taskbar would be and recovered google chrome. When google chrome was open, all of my tabs had the 'Oh Snap!' message on them. Then there was a pop up telling me i was running out of memory. I closed it, and opened task manager to check my memory. I then saw the window borders was in the windows 7 classic style for some reason. But the memory was at a reasonable state. Later, the memory pop up came again and that's when i started to write this post.
Help please?
I know i could restart my pc but I felt the need to share this and curious to know why it happened.
Edit 1 - I'm going to restart my pc now and will edit again with results.
Edit 2 - When restarting my primary monitor showed a grey screen and secondary showed a black screen.
Edit 3 - Restarted. Everything seems to be fixed.
Hi, just focussing on your out of memory report.
Have you changed these settings? Could you please post the equivalent screenshot?
I haven't edited any of those settings.
I literally just got the low memory pop up again:
Ok, how much free space do you have on each drive? (Might as well check all).
And can you post a screenshot of your task manager when that occurs, showing processes using most RAM at the top?
I suppose another possibility is some software corruption such that your system isn't actually using your page file...
I have 94.5 GB left on my only hard drive, and task manager showed google chrome using most ram.
It's not a matter of how much unallocated space there is on the drive, if that's what you mean
Please post a screenshot of your task manager when you get that message, showing processes using most RAM at the top.
Also post this so I can be sure:
Is your OS 32 or 64 bits?
I cant take a screenshot of task manager when it happens, as i have restarted since.
Ok, wait 'til it does, and also post this:
Is your OS 32 or 64 bits?
64 bit
