Windows 10 TP Latest build install on an empty machine

Right, so I've got a laptop that I'm currently trying to install windows 10 tp onto. It's the exact same model as the one I'm running on (it's my brothers, and I'm trying to fix it for him), but I've hit a snag.

The insider program website says that you can burn the .iso to a dvd and install it like that, but I've done that, and the laptop just stalls at a windows logo screen. Any ideas?

There's no operating system currently installed -- all 900 someodd GB are free and, using a windows 8 install disk to access a command prompt, DISKPART says the partition is healthy. I've cleaned and formatted it several times now to no avail, so I wanted to come to you guys and see if you had any ideas. Thanks in advance!

I would hope you didn't burn the .iso file to the disc but used your disc burning program to open that .iso file then burn which will create an exact duplicate of the original disc. The resultant disc is bootable, works fine installing on a clean HDD for me.

I did use power iso to burn the contents of the iso onto the disk. After several reboots the computer is still hanging on the windows splash logo, not even the loading ring is there.

Try deleting the entire hard drive and the boot from the DVD it should format your Brother's and install win 10.

Alright. I feel like I've already tried that, but I'll give it another shot. I'll come back when I have an update.

Hmm, I just realized that I spend more time reading posts about Win 10 than I do actually using it!

Sorry wrong thread!

Is the computer UEFI or BIOS? Is the drive GPT or MBR. What OS was on it before you tried installing Win 10?

Try using Rufusto create a UEFI/GPT enabled flash drive to install from, see if that works.

Boot from the DVD, on the first screen do not select your language. Hold down the shift key and press F10, you will get a command prompt window. Type diskpartinto the screen and press enter. when it replies diskpart type list disk It will list all drives and give them a number on the left. Being a laptop, yours should be disk 0 (number 0, not letter). if it is a different number, select that. Type select disk 0and press enter, it should reply disk 0 is the selected disk. Type list partitionand press enter. If you have a cell phone, take a picture just so we can see the layout and upload it here. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in windowssh blog - Windows 10 blog. when you are ready to get out, just type exitand press enter, thenexit again and press enter. You will be back at the select your language screen.

Here's the disk partitions.

To Ztrucker, I'm not sure what you mean by the first question, I was under the impression they were somewhat unrelated. I have no clue how answer your second question, but the last OS on it was Windows 8, but I completely formatted the hard drive, not just the partitions. There's nothing but un-allocated space on it right now.

Then try to boot off of the DVD and try to install Windows 10.
